Monday/Wednesday Block Schedule
LANGUAGE ARTS
This language arts class is designed to increase student communications skills through reading, writing, speaking, and study of the English language. This class is NOT the ordinary English course; rather, we learn by doing.
MATH
In general, 6th-graders will do a course in the fundamentals of mathematics, building on the arithmetic they learned in elementary school; 7th-graders will do pre-algebra; and 8th-graders will do algebra.
SCIENCE
Because a student can attend the co-op for three years, the science courses run on a three-year cycle: Earth Science/Astronomy, Physics/Chemistry, and Biology.
ENRICHMENT
Because a student can attend the co-op for three years, the enrichment courses run on a three-year cycle: Logic, Music, and Drawing from Observation.
Tuesday/Thursday Block Schedule
LATIN I, II, AND III
During the course of study, each student develops his own Latin-English handbook. All information concerning grammar and vocabulary is presented in a balanced combination of oral and written work.
BIBLE
My intent is to introduce and teach the inductive method of Bible Study to our students, so they can learn to read and understand God’s Holy Word for themselves, not remaining dependent upon others to tell them what it means.
HISTORY
Our Classical Studies History curriculum (Memoria Press) follows a 3-year continuum of History, beginning with Ancient History (Creation, Sumer/Mesopotamia, Egypt, the Hebrews, Greece, Rome), continuing with history of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Reformation, and followed by Exploration of the New World and American History.
STUDY SKILLS
This class is designed to help the beginning middle school student to identify his/her own specific learning style, so he/she studies smarter, not harder!
