STUDY SKILLS

Text:  How to Improve Your Study Skills, 2nd edition, by Marcia Coman and Kathy Heavers

This class is designed to help the beginning middle school student to identify his/her own specific learning style, so he/she studies smarter, not harder!  We will discuss study environment, sequence, and budgeting/scheduling study time as a priority. We will examine and practice a variety of study and note-taking techniques. We will also explore memory and test-taking strategies, as well as strategies for reducing test anxiety.  We will learn and practice techniques for improving understanding and practice skills for skimming and scanning.
